Derry Woodhouse, a native of Limerick,
Ireland, has been living and acting in the
US since 1986. He is a graduate of the
Gaeity School of acting in Dublin, Ireland.
Derry works extensively in the New England
area and with companies in Ireland. Recent
US based roles include Patto in the Boston
premiere of the Beauty Queen of Leenane,
multiple characters in Graham Greene's
Travels with My Aunt, Jim in The Weir,
Matamore in The Illusion (IRNE nomination
actor), Yowsa in The Lepers of Baile Baiste
and JC in The Blowin of Gall (best new plays
of 2002, Elliott Norton Awards), Oliver in
As You Like It, King Polixenes in Winter's
Tale. Film credits include Deportation
(Broadway7 Productions), Blue Monday and The
Colour of Money. He has done numerous voice
overs, commercials and book narrations.
Derry has a life long interest in history
and is a world traveler. He has interviewed
and chronicled the lives of men who have
lived in the trenches in WWI and fought in
the Pacific campaign of WWII. He hopes to
publish a compilation this year. Derry
enjoys most sports and outdoor activities.
He has represented Ireland in many world
class rowing events and came in fourth in
the world in the World Rowing Championships.
Derry was a crew member on board Argo, The
Quest For Ulysses voyage with historian Tim
Severin, reenacting the wanderings of
Ulysses on his homeward voyage from Troy. He
worked as a volunteer for several seasons in
Alaska with conservation.
