David Kleiler ~ Marketing Consultant

David Kleiler, founder and director of Boston's Local Sightings, has a 30-year history in the film industry as an exhibitor, professor, collaborator, and producer. Through Local Sighting's area screenings, he has brought independent film to neighborhoods throughout New England. His industry experience has positioned him significantly at film festivals such as Sundance, the Toronto Film Festival, and the Independent Feature Film Market.

From 1988 to 1996, David was artistic director of the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Boston. As director, he showcased the best of independent cinema at a time when most Boston movie houses were exclusively booking blockbuster films. As founder and artistic director of the Boston Underground Film Festival, he shook the sensibilities of independent film fans with groundbreaking work.

David was executive producer of Monica Mitchell's award-winning Night Deposit and associate producer of Brad Anderson's Session 9. Additionally, he was a tenured professor of Communications at Babson College, taught film at Emerson College, U-Mass Boston, Tufts University and the Boston Architectural Center, did doctoral work in cinema studies at NYU and has a certificate in arts administration from the Harvard Business School.

A teacher as well as a filmmaker, a collaborator as well as a mentor, David enjoys helping filmmakers bring their work to fruition.
