Chris Collins is the principle sports anchor
for NECN and host of Sports LateNight with
Chris Collins. A native of Peabody,
Massachusetts, Collins graduated from Temple
University, and began his career at KALB-TV
(NBC) in Alexandria, LA, and later at WDJI-TV
(CBS) in Milwaukee as a sports anchor.
Joining NECN in 1998 as a weekend sports
anchor, he later joined Mark Ockerbloom as
the co-anchor of Sports LateNight. Collins
writes a regular column for the Improper
Bostonian. He also partners with the
Massachusetts State Police Department in a
seatbelt safety awareness campaign.
Collins has conducted exclusive live
interviews with Nomar Garciaparra, Jason
Varitek, Derek Lowe and Teddy Bruschi. He
won national recognition for breaking the
Notre Dame new head coach appointment story
in 2001, and the Jeff Allison story in 2004.
He was one of only two Boston sportscasters
to predict the final score of the Patriots
Super Bowl win in 2002.
